It’s nearly that time of year again! And after a bit of a turbulent end to the year with all of the American election debacle, it’s now finally time to wrap up warm under a cosy blanket with a cup of hot cocoa and wait for Father Christmas to come along and make the world a nice place again. So here we have prepared a list of the best Christmas movies of all time for you to make your way through in the build up to Christmas…
1. Home Alone (1990)
I’m sure if you were to ask 100 people at least 90% of them would say that Home Alone was their favorite Christmas movie of all time. And rightly so! What more could you want than a lively 8 year-old boy left behind by his parents at Christmas time and having to contend with two hapless burglars? The comedy in this film is pure genius and year after year really doesn’t get old.

2. Miracle on 34th Street (1994)
A magical Christmas classic; a little girl’s dream of Santa is unwittingly realised and brought to life by the late acting genius Richard Attenborough. Of course, it is definitely worth mentioning that this film was first made in 1947, starring Edmund Gwenn and Maureen O’Hara, but I can only judge this by the generation I fell in to. Needless to say, both are absolutely worth a watch.

One of Dudley Moore’s most well-known films, Santa Claus: The Movie brings a cleverly thought out mismatch of Santa Claus functioning in the modern day world and struggling to maintain his workload, with only Patch the elf (Moore) to lead the way with his amazing toy-making abilities. 7. The Grinch (2000)
The Grinch a.k.a Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become a modern day cult classic and could there anyone better on this earth to play the crazed recluse than our favourite comedy actor, Jim Carrey? Needless to say, the Grinch’s idea to steal Christmas doesn’t quite work out as he’d hoped.

8. Love Actually (2003)
Is any Christmas living room complete without Love Actually playing in the background? Bringing together some of the acting greats of our generation (Alan Rickman, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson to name a few) to show us the meaning of love in all its glory, I defy anyone not to be left with a warm and fuzzy feeling at the end of this movie.
